CDC-aligned defaults. Tunable for your situation.
MommyRon ships with U.S. CDC storage windows as defaults. You can tighten them in Settings if your hospital, NICU team, or lactation consultant has given you stricter guidance.

An expiry date set at creation. Forever.
When you add milk to your stash, MommyRon stamps it with an expiry date computed from your storage location and your Settings preferences. That date is locked. It does not change if you later change your fridge or freezer windows in Settings — those new windows only apply to new items.
This matters because a stash you can trust is a stash whose dates are real. If MommyRon silently re-computed expiry every time you tapped a setting, an "expires tomorrow" bottle could become "expires next week" without warning. Locked expiry means the date you see is the date you logged — every time.
Stored, used, discarded, expired — one direction.
Stash items move forward through their lifecycle and never backward. From stored you can mark milk as used (a baby drank it), discarded (a spill or a thawed portion past its 24-hour window), or it automatically becomes expired when the locked date passes. There's no "un-discard" because there's no way to un-pour a bottle.
The Stash tab shows your active fridge and freezer totals first; archive views let you look back at what you've fed and what you've lost. Export history to CSV or PDF any time from Settings.
Stash tracker questions
How long does breast milk last in the fridge?
U.S. CDC guidelines say freshly expressed breast milk is safe in the refrigerator for up to 4 days at 4 °C (40 °F) or colder. MommyRon's default fridge expiry is set to 4 days, calculated from the moment you log the session — you can shorten this in Settings if your hospital or IBCLC recommends a tighter window.
How long does breast milk last in the freezer?
CDC guidance is up to 6 months for best quality and up to 12 months acceptable in a deep freezer. MommyRon defaults to 6 months and lets you change it in Settings. Once an item is stored, the expiry date is fixed — it does not recalculate.
Can I track milk that has been thawed or warmed?
Yes. Use the Status field on a stash item. Thawed milk is safe in the fridge for up to 24 hours per CDC; MommyRon's thawed expiry follows that rule. Discard or Used statuses retire the item from your active stash without deleting the history.
What happens when milk is about to expire?
MommyRon sends a local notification before each stash item expires, so you can rotate FIFO (first in, first out) and use the oldest milk first. The alert fires the day before by default. Like everything else in MommyRon, scheduling is handled on-device — nothing leaves your phone.
Does the stash sync to my partner's phone or to iCloud?
No. MommyRon is local-first by design. Your stash inventory lives in the app's sandbox on your device only. If you want a copy, use the Export to CSV/PDF feature in Settings and share that yourself.
Track every ounce. Use the oldest first.
