Built on iOS 26 AlarmKit

Pump alarms that actually wake you up.

Wake-through-silent pumping alarms on iPhone. MommyRon uses iOS 26 AlarmKit so 3 AM rings ring — even with the silent switch on, Do Not Disturb active, and a Focus mode in the way.

The 3 AM problem

Notifications are silent. Pumping is not optional.

Most pumping apps schedule a notification and call it a day. That works fine at 2 PM. At 3 AM, with the ringer switch flipped to silent so a partner can sleep, a Sleep Focus active, and the screen face-down on the nightstand, the same notification lands quietly in Notification Center and you wake up engorged at 7:30.

For an exclusively pumping mom, that's not a missed reminder — it's a missed session, a backed-up supply, and the start of a bad day. The whole point of a pumping app is to be louder than your exhaustion.

How it works

Three layers, so an alarm fires when iOS would otherwise stay quiet.

MommyRon's wake-through-silent alarm isn't one feature — it's a small ladder of fallbacks scheduled with the system, so the noisiest available channel always wins.

1

AlarmKit alarm (iOS 26+)

A real system alarm, scheduled with AlarmKit. Rings through Silent, Do Not Disturb, and Focus modes. Same engine that powers the system Clock app's alarms.

2

Time-sensitive notification

If AlarmKit isn't available — older iOS, permission revoked, or a system fallback — MommyRon schedules a time-sensitive notification that breaks through most Focus configurations.

3

Critical alert (if granted)

On devices where Apple has granted Critical Alerts, MommyRon can fire one as a last line — bypassing Silent mode entirely. Off by default; only enabled if you turn it on.

Sound design

A wake-up that doesn't wake the baby.

Default pump alarms start at a low warm-up tone and escalate over fifteen seconds, so by the time you're at full volume your brain has already registered something is happening. The pattern is tuned for night-time pumping rooms: loud enough that you can hear it through a sound machine, not so jarring that it sets off a sleeping infant in the next bassinet.

You can preview, stop, and snooze from the lock screen — no need to find your face ID in the dark.

Pumping alarm questions

Why don't standard iPhone notifications wake me up for a pump?

Notifications respect Silent mode, Do Not Disturb, and most Focus modes. A scheduled notification at 3 AM will land in Notification Center, but your phone will stay silent. Apps that rely on UNUserNotificationCenter alone cannot guarantee an audible wake.

Do MommyRon alarms ring in Silent mode, Do Not Disturb, and Focus?

Yes. On iOS 26 and later, MommyRon schedules pump wake-ups through AlarmKit, Apple's framework for true alarms. AlarmKit alarms ring at full volume regardless of the ringer switch, Do Not Disturb, or active Focus modes — the same way the system Clock app's alarms do.

What iOS version do I need for wake-through-silent alarms?

iOS 26 or later. On iOS 17–25 you still get reliable scheduled notifications, but for the strongest guarantee that an alarm rings through silent mode you'll want to be on iOS 26.

Do I need to grant any special permissions?

Yes. The first time you turn on Alarm Mode in Settings, iOS will ask you to grant MommyRon permission to schedule alarms. You can revoke or restore this in iOS Settings › MommyRon. Notifications permission is also required so reminders, end-of-session prompts, and stash expiry alerts work.

Will the alarm fire if my phone is locked or my screen is off?

Yes — that is the whole point. AlarmKit alarms are scheduled with the system and fire from a locked, dark screen, the same way the Clock app's alarms do. You can stop or snooze from the lock screen.

Can I customize the alarm sound?

MommyRon ships a small set of pump-tuned tones — a soft escalating warm-up that grows louder rather than blaring on the first ring. We chose the defaults specifically so they wake you without startling a baby in the next room. Custom audio file support is not in the current build.
